Gov. Mary Fallin signed a bill into law Tuesday that requires DNA samples to be taken upon booking of a felony arrest.
It's one of the more controversial bills state lawmakers are looking at and on Wednesday it cleared another hurdle. The bill would allow police to collect DNA samples from people who are arrested on felony charges, before there's even a conviction.
The topic of DNA has been debated for years here at the state capitol. The 2016 bill's current author said she has brought it up the last four years in a row..
